Edwin Roels (born 1934) earned his undergraduate degrees from Calvin College and Seminary and a Doctorate of Theology from the Free University in Amsterdam. He spent nine years pastoring churches in Illinois and Minnesota, with emphases on evangelism and outreach, including prison ministry. For another nine years he was involved in overseas ministry, with three of those years as Director of the American Home for servicemen in Seoul, Korea and for six years as Africa Coordinator for the World Home Bible League, for which he wrote and distributed a number of booklets and Bible studies. As a teacher, he served on the faculty of Calvin College and Trinity Christian College, where he was also Dean of Students. In 1987 he became the third president of Reformed Bible College, a position that he held until his retirement in 1995.
It was during his retirement years that Dr. Roels devoted much of his time to writing. He wrote correspondence courses for Crossroads Bible Institute, giving prisoners the opportunity to learn about the Bible and the Christian faith. He also developed online courses for the Christian Leaders Institute, training students worldwide for ministry positions.
Christian Basics combines his biblical expertise and teaching clarity in a 4-book comprehensive study of basic Christian concepts. Designed primarily for new believers, it is also worthwhile reading for searchers as well as seasoned Christians.
